Govt to review Sarawak river boat and ferry licencing procedures - Najib
The Transport Ministry will review the licencing procedures for boats and ferries in Sarawak rivers to avoid the incidence of boat tragedies, said Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
The Prime Minister said this in his latest tweet on the tragedy when an express boat carrying more than 200 passengers sank at Giam Bungan, Sungai Rajang, Sarawak, last Tuesday.
The exspress boat, which was carrying passengers who were returning to their home towns for the Hari Gawai celebrations, sank in the Jeram Tukok/Jeram Bungan area, an approximately 40-minute journey from Sibu, Sarawak.
So far, the number of survivors stands at 205 while two are stll missing and the body of Tujok Lah has been found.
The two victims who are still missing are Roslin Jati and Maurice Ajan.
