The dream of the government is seeing the people enjoy balanced development with the closing of the economic gap between the peninsula and Sarawak and Sabah via the implementation of various projects.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said no one could deny that there is a significant gap in terms of progress and development between the peninsula and the two states.
"As Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, I have redoubled development in Sabah and Sarawak to tackle this issue," he said in a posting on his blog NajibRazak.com titled 'Under The Umbrella of Jalur Gemilang', today.
He said, since taking over the national administration in 2009, large allocations were approved each year for Sabah and Sarawak specifically for various programmes focused on the people, including water and electricity supply for the rural populace.
He said plantation grants were approved for oil palm and rubber cultivation so that the people involved could be independent and had a stable income other than the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) and other aid which were given directly regardless of distance and difficulties.
