Govt willing to study increasing speed limit on Klang-Teluk Intan route
Residents who utilise the Klang-Teluk Intan route in Sungai Besar feel that the 80-km speed limit in the area is too slow, to the point where some have received summons for speeding.
The government is willing to study increasing the speed limit on the Klang-Teluk Intan route in Sungai Besar, if there is a request from the local people.
Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi said the study was to see whether the existing speed limit of 80km is consistent with the area.
"We will call all relevant parties, including residents and community leaders to have a brainstorming session to arrive at a decision that is acceptable to all," he told reporters after launching a road safety campaign and buka puasa function here Thursday.
He said this when asked to comment on complaints of some residents who felt the speed limit in the area was too low that some were summoned for speeding.
In the meantime, Ab Aziz reminded motorists to be more careful on the road ahead of the festive season.
He said the number of road accidents was so alarming with a total of 18 fatal accidents recorded each day.
