Gov't working to give KAFA teachers permanent posts - Idris
The government is currently working on a plan to offer Al-Quran and Fardhu Ain (KAFA) class teachers permanent posts or hire them via Contract of Service (COS), says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Idris Ahmad.
LAHAD DATU: The government is currently working on a plan to offer Al-Quran and Fardhu Ain (KAFA) class teachers permanent posts or hire them via Contract of Service (COS), says Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Senator Idris Ahmad.
He said, however, several matters had to be resolved first, including streamlining the working hours of KAFA teachers nationwide.
"We have discussed, especially regarding the terms, with the state religious authorities and the agencies concerned, so that KAFA teachers can be assisted to become permanent staff or offered COS in the early stage.
"The problem is that some states implement KAFA three times a week only, and in some states, it's five days," he told reporters after a friendly gathering with KAFA teachers here today.
In the meantime, Idris reminded all KAFA teachers including imams in the state to maintain good moral behaviour and to become role models to society.
Meanwhile, he said the government had allocated RM1.5 billion this year for Islamic affairs, with RM140 million for education and RM58 million for religious development in Sabah.
