KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) leaders have assured that the Sabah government will remain strong by agreeing to maintain cooperation, thus upholding the mandate given by the people in the 16th State Election held last September.
Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is also the GRS chairman, said he had been communicating with its component leaders on the latest political developments in Kuala Lumpur.
"We are of the opinion and totally agree that cooperation in the ruling state government will remain. We will continue to uphold the mandate given to us in the last state election," he said in a statement today.
The Chief Minister said all the GRS leaders also agreed to take whatever measure necessary to strengthen the GRS government.
"I pray that the political crisis in Kuala Lumpur can be resolved fast amicably and justly so that we can focus our attention on efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and on economic recovery and ensuring political stability.
GRS is a coalition of parties in Perikatan Nasional (Bersatu, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah Progressive Party and PAS), Barisan Nasional (UMNO, MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah) and Parti Bersatu Sabah.
