GRS has more than enough majority in State Assembly - Masidi

He said there was no merit to an allegation by Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin that Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor had no locus standi or right of standing to be the Chief Minister of Sabah.

He said Hajiji and all assemblymen (ADUNs) from Bersatu who left the party last month were all GRS direct members.

"It shall also be observed that the Constitution of the State of Sabah is designed to promote certainty and political stability in Sabah. It is fundamental to Sabah's constitutional order that the Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) (Yang Dipertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin) is not dragged into political schemes, disputes or power struggles

"I hope that certain political leaders observe this and show the TYT and his office the respect it deserves. Therefore, the recent practice of bringing signed statutory declarations to the Istana as evidence of the confidence of ADUNs in the government is undesirable and should be discouraged," he said in a statement today.

He was responding to a statement by Bung Moktar which was seen as an attempt to cast doubt and confusion on the legitimacy of Hajiji as the Chief Minister.

According to Bung Moktar, Hajiji was not qualified to be Chief Minister under Article 6(7) of the Constitution of the State of Sabah.

Last night, Sabah UMNO and BN announced that they are withdrawing their support towards Hajiji as Chief Minister.

Three Sabah assemblymen from Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) also expressed their belief that Hajiji no longer commanded majority support as Sabah Chief Minister, last night.
