Guan Eng gives statement to MACC for second day running

Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was at the Penang office of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission for the second consecutive day today to have his statement recorded over what is believed to be purchase of a bungalow and sale of land.
He arrived at the office at 10.05am in the chief minister's official car, accompanied by lawyer R.S.N. Rayer.
The statements to be recorded are believed to be pertaining to Lim's purchase of a bungalow in Jalan Pinhorn and the state government's sale of land in Taman Manggis, Jalan Zainal Abidin.
Yesterday, Lim and his wife Betty Chew were at the MACC office to record the statement. Three lawyers, Rayer and Gobind Singh Deo for Lim, and Ramkarpal Singh for Chiew, were with them.
The purchase of the bungalow for RM2.8 million became a controversy after Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya disclosed in the Dewan Rakyat that the price was below the market value.
It was also claimed that the purchase was connected to the state government's sale of the land in Taman Manggis that had been reserved for a housing project for the poor.
Rayer, when approached by reporters during a break, said he expected the recording of the statement by Lim to be completed today.
"We are taking a break, at 1.30pm, and the session will resume at 2.30pm. I cannot say anything more," he said.
