Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been told not to divert the issue on the purchase of his bungalow at Jalan Pinhorn and should overcome it by cooperating with the investigating authorities.
UMNO Youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin said a leader should not be pointing fingers and blaming others always when confronted with problems.
He said not all issues raised could be politicised and Lim's action in shifting the issue concerned by attacking others would not solve the problem.
"I will not divert the issue by blaming others especially DAP and PKR in the case involving officers under the Youth and Sports Ministry believed to have embezzled funds worth RM100 million.
"I came forward to state commitment to solve the issue and be responsible to ensure those guilty would face actions according to the law," he said after opening Permatang Pauh Youth League, here today.
He said one should not cover up one's mistakes and weaknesses as the people wanted transparent answers from their leaders especially on major issues such as the bungalow purchase.
"Any issue or problem raised will not be solved by shifting the issue and blaming others to cover up one's weakness or mistake," he said.
Last Friday, state DAP chairman, Chow Koon Yeow stressed that the purchase of bungalow by Lim and its link to Taman Manggis land was a personal attack and the Chief Minister who is also DAP secretary-general need not take leave.
Meanwhile, Khairy who is Youth and Sports Minister said the independent audit team which was set up would be commencing its task from tomorrow to audit the RM100 million embezzlement.
He said the officer believed involved in the issue had been taken out of the ministry according to Public Service Commission procedures while the investigation was being conducted.
"To avoid the problem from recurring, procedures seen weak will be given due attention and strengthened," he said.
He said he would leave the case to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for investigation.
