A knife-weilding security guard who ran amok, killing a bank officer and injuring the victim's colleague at a bank in Taman Molek on Friday, was recruited according to regulations, said the former's employer.
Safeguards G4S managing director Sharin Baba said the employee's records showed he had a licence to serve as security guard, in accordance with the laws of the country.
"He underwent a selection process, recruitment and training relating to the services rendered in accordance with the law," he said in a statement here Sunday.

"The employee is a Malaysian citizen who has served with the company for over a year.
"The company has never received any complaint on his behaviour or his service," he said in a press statement here today.
Sharin said his company sympathised with the victims and would cooperate with the police to facilitate investigations.

In the 3.30pm incident, HSBC bank officer Ho Chin Tau, 33, was stabbed to death while his 54-year-old female colleague was injured by a security guard who ran amok while armed with a knife.
The suspect was arrested by the police with public assistance and remanded for a week to facilitate investigations.
