Guard jailed seven months for punching sister

A security guard was sentenced to seven months’ jail by the Magistrate's Court here today for voluntarily causing hurt on his sister by punching her on the abdomen last year.
Magistrate Fardiana Haryanti Ahmad Razali handed down the sentence on the 21-year-old man after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court ordered the accused, who is the eldest of six siblings, to serve his jail term starting from the date of arrest on Feb 8.
When asked by the magistrate why he committed the act, the accused said: "Cannot remember".
He was charged with committing the offence on the girl, who was 16, at a house in Jalan Lapangan Permai, off Jalan Istana here at 10.30 am on June 26, 2019.
He was charged under Section 323 / 326A of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum jail term of one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both, upon conviction.
Deputy public prosecutor Nurilya Ellyna Nor Azmal prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented.
