Habibah laid to rest at Kampung Parit Masjid Muslim Cemetary

The remains of Datin Habibah Mahmud, the wife of the Malaysian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Datuk Dr Hasrul Sani Mujtabar, was laid to rest at Kampung Parit Masjid Muslim Cemetery in Parit Yusof Darat here,

today.

Habibah was buried at 8.45am next to the grave of her father, Mahmud Abdul Aziz.

Her burial was attended by her mother, Habsah Omar, 77; her children Dr Haziani Farhana, 26, Haziani Sofia, 24 and Haziq Fazli, 19; and more than 100 family members, friends and villagers.

Also present at the burial were Muar member of Parliament Datuk Razali Ibrahim, Sungai Balang assemblyman Zaiton Ismail, Muar police chief ACP Azman Ayob and Batu Pahat police chief ACP Din Ahmad.

However Habibah's husband, Hasrul Sani was unable to attend because he is receiving treatment at Putrajaya Hospital upon his arrival in the country, last night.

Habibah's remains arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 9.25pm last night and reached her mother's home in Semerah, Batu Pahat at 1am.

She was among six people killed when a helicopter carrying a diplomatic delegation crashed in Naltar Valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan region on May 8.

Also killed were the Norwegian and Philippine ambassadors, the wife of the Indonesian ambassador and the helicopter's two pilots.

Hasrul Sani, who only sustained minor injuries, received early treatment at Gilgit Hospital in Pakistan.

The helicopter was carrying foreign diplomats and their spouses in an official programme of the Pakistan government.

Meanwhile, Habibah's brother-in-law Dr Ahmad Pauzi Abu, when met after the burial, thanked everyone involved.

He said that Habibah once told them that she missed her late father and that was the reason why the cemetery was chosen.

"Thank God it's all over and our family would like to thank everyone involved," he said.

Habibah was the second of nine siblings.
