A freak hailstorm wreaked havoc in several areas here this evening, with trees uprooted in Technology Park Malaysia, Bukit Jalil.
The storm began around 6pm and caused some panic among employees in both private and government offices nearby.
Several staff who wanted to leave for the day were shocked to see that some of their vehicles were damaged after uprooted trees fell on their cars.
"We were in the office when we heard a loud noise outside the building. Some chaos was taking place, so my colleagues and I rushed downstairs to see what was going," said Mogan Muniandy, an Astro Radio news editor.
"We were shocked to see some 10 cars damaged in my office area. About two or three vehicles were badly dented due to uprooted trees," he told Astro AWANI.
At Press time, several quarters were still trying to remove the debris, he said.
He added that although the storm was bad, there were no floods.
Meanwhile, the hailstorm also affected train services at the South Integrated Terminal (TBS) in Bandar Tasik Selatan.
A Prasarana Berhad spokesman told Astro AWANI, the LRT services between the Cheras and Sri Petaling stations were halted due to electricity supply disruption.
Prasarana has prepared feeder bus services for stranded passengers.
