Hamas urges Malaysia to play leading role in protecting Al-Aqsa Mosque
Khaled stressed the importance of Malaysia moving with the international community to halt the plans of Israeli occupation of Jerusalem with the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular. -EPA
Malaysia should play a leading role in protecting the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, said Hamas political bureau head Khaled Meshaal.
In a phone conversation with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Khaled stressed the importance of Malaysia to move with the international community to halt Israeli plans to occupy Jerusalem, particularly the Al-Aqsa Mosque .
In response, Najib expressed strong condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa and attempts to impose temporal and spatial dividing. He also said Malaysia stands alongside the Palestinian people in the face of these abuses and violations.
Khaled later expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Najib, the Malaysian government and its people on their firm position in support of the Palestinian people in the face of Israeli aggression.
