Hand grenade found in attic

Cleaning out the attic may be a normal household chore for some be it to create extra space or simply as a workout regime.

But for one 54-year-old woman, this normal act ended up in her calling the police.

Instead of finding dust bunnies and some dead insects among her belongings in the attic, she found a hand grenade.

Sentul police chief Assistant Commissioner Zakaria Pagan said, the house was currently undergoing renovations at the time.

“After checking, we believe the object is harmless as it is usually used for training or decoration.”

A Bomb Disposal Unit was deployed to the scene and took away the object for further analysis.

“No other suspicious items were found at the house,” Zakaria said, adding that the case is currently being investigated under the Explosives Act 1957.
