Hand over 1MDB probe documents to members first- Takiyuddin tells PAC
Takiyuddin said the PACs probe on 1MDB is a heavy responsibility shouldered by PAC members.
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) new member Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan will suggest to the PAC chairman Datuk Hasan Arifin to hand over all documents related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) probe to PAC members before continuing the investigation.
“That should be the right procedure. Before beginning any new investigation, the members must be given the access to refer to the related documents,” he said when met at Parliament lobby today.
The Kota Bharu member of Parliament said it would be a tough process if the members have to listen to the proceedings and make referral to the documents, at the same time.
Takiyuddin said the PAC’s probe on 1MDB is a heavy responsibility shouldered by PAC members.
“The rakyat have placed high hopes on PAC to wrap up the probe with realistic results,” he said.
He said that is why he had supported the proposal for PAC members to undertake oath of secrecy.
“As PAC members, we have to know what can and cannot be said in public. But this does not mean that PAC members cannot talk at all,” he added.
Meanwhile, two more newly appointed PAC members, Datuk Nawawi Ahmad (BN-Langkawi) and Datuk Ahmad Hamzah (BN-Jasin) agreed to the proposal to undertake oath of secrecy.

A total of five MPs were appointed today to replace those who had moved to government positions in the last Cabinet reshuffle.
With the new appointments, the PAC now has 14 members, including Hasan who was appointed last week to replace Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
The PAC was investigating the 1MDB before its probes were halted following the appointment of its members into the Cabinet.
