Haron Din an eminent Islamic leader - PM Najib

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said today the death of PAS Spiritual Leader Datuk Dr Haron Din has robbed Malaysia of an eminent Islamic leader.

"Innalillahiwainnailaihirajiun (We surely belong to Allah and to Him we shall return.) Received the sad news of the passing of Tuan Guru Haron Din. We have lost an Islamic leader who has contributed a great deal to the nation.

"I was close to him. We desired to see Malaysia as a progressive Islamic state. May God shower his blessings on him. Al-Fatihah," Datuk Seri Najib said in a post on his Twitter account @NajibRazak.

Haron died at 10.10am (Malaysian time) today at Stanford University Hospital in San Francisco where he was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment. He was 76. -- BERNAMA
