Have no fear about giving info on corruption - MACC

The people need not worry about providing information on corrupt practices as their action will be protected by law, says the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

Deputy Commissioner (management and professionalism) Datuk Jamidan Abdullah said witnesses who cooperated on corruption cases would be protected under the Witness Protection Act 2009.

"We have also opened investigation papers to investigate individuals who threatened informers," he told reporters after an event, 'Popularise MACC' here Tuesday.

He said the people should not fear about coming forward with information as the MACC would conduct its duties in a transparent manner to seek justice for them.

Meanwhile, Kedah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Muhamad said the commission made 55 arrests since early this year on corrupt practices, as compared to 22 arrests during the same period last year.

"This achievement is due to quality information received from the people to help MACC stamp out corruption," he said.
