Haze at unhealthy level at Port Klang, Seri Manjung

Air quality because of the current haze in the country was at an unhealthy level at Port Klang in Selangor and Seri Manjung at midday today.

According to the Department of Environment's website, at 2pm, the Air Pollutants Index (API) reading at Port Klang was 117 while at Seri Manjung it was 102.

The website said according to API readings at 2pm, air quality was at the moderate level in 27 areas while 21 areas recorded good air quality.

The air quality in several areas was also nearing the unhealthy level, among them Sungai Petani (98), Taiping (99), Muar (92), Seberang Jaya 2 Perai (96) and Petaling Jaya (92).

Among the areas which had good air quality (at 2pm) were Pasir Gudang (34), Kota Kinabalu (38), Bintulu (28), Kuala Terengganu (25) and Langkawi (48).

API readings of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).
