Haze update: Unhealthy air readings detected in five areas
There are no clear signs that the haze situation over the peninsular has improved, even though areas with air pollutant index (API) readings of above 100 have reduced to five, compared to six earlier.
Based on data provided by the Department of Environment, haze also appeared to be worsening in Melacca, Bukit Rambai and Port Dickson recorded the worst reading as at 5pm, with API of 161, 135 and 120, respectively. Earlier at 11am, these areas have API readings of 129, 120 and 117, respectively.
The other two areas hit by unhealthy air quality readings are Port Klang and Kemaman.
Muar, which previously had API readings of 110, now has a reading of 86.
A level of 101-200 is considered unhealthy, while 51-100 is moderate.
Health authorities have issued a general advisory for members of the public, especially those with respiratory problems, to avoid outdoor activities if possible.
