KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of heavy rain and more frequent thunderstorms in the afternoon to the evening, which are expected to occur in the states on the west coast of the Peninsula from this Tuesday until Nov 11.
MetMalaysia, in a statement today, said that the states involved are Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.
"Based on the analysis of the MET Malaysia Weather Research and Forecasting Model (MET-WRF), the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and the Global Forecast System (GFS), wind concentration is expected to occur on the east coast of the Peninsula and west of Sarawak.
"This situation has the potential to produce continuous rain that can bring heavy rain and strong winds to the east coast of the Peninsula from Nov 8 to 11," it said.
Earlier, MetMalaysia had issued a continuous rain alert involving Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor during the period.
It also advises the public to always refer to the website www.met.gov.my and all social media, and download the myCuaca application to get the latest and authentic information.
