High achievers receive MBR Award 2014 from Najib

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak last night presented the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) Award 2014 to more than 60 individuals who recorded high achievement in various fields, including sports, business, entertainment and art.
The spotlight fell on individual icons who had stamped their mark in the human achievement categories of which Berjaya Corporation Berhad founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan was listed as one of the recipients.
The same recognition was also awarded to AirAsia Bhd group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and Malaysia Cosmonaut Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Sheikh Mustapha.
Others are renowned shoe designer Datuk Jimmy Choo, singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin and accomplished performer Datuk Shake.
The Malaysia Book of Records' 'Night of Achievers' and MBR Award 2014 with the theme, 'The Nation Salutes' is organised to pay tribute to record holders and achievers in the country.
Other categories also received recognition, including sports, retail chain, outstanding business, 100 years of excellence, human anatomy and young record holders.
The event also marked the launch of the 'MBR Ninth Edition Publication'.
Meanwhile, Najib in his speech said the MBR award recipients would inspire other Malaysians.
"Because the one thing about records is that they are made to be broken. Your success and your achievements will drive others to excel," he said.
The prime minister said the desire to be the best and excel was an essential part of human nature.
"It is what drives us onward and outward to greater things. And along the way, we discover so much about ourselves, about our limit, our abilities and spirit that lie within us," he said while addressing the event attended by more than 1,200 guests.
