The death of an Indonesian maid at the Kampung Raja police station yesterday, was due to high blood pressure.
Terengganu Criminal Investigation Department chief Assistant Commissioner K. Manoharan said post-mortem results showed the 42-year-old had succumbed to the medical condition.
"We have classified the case as sudden death and there is no injury to suggest foul play," he told reporters here today.
Yesterday, the maid, who was not identified by the police, collapsed and died about 2.30pm while waiting to be questioned in connection with the theft of RM5,000 from her employer.
Manoharan said the theft was discovered by her employer's brother-in-law about 11.30pm on Sunday, after the foreigner had run away from the employer's house in Kampung Seberang Jerteh.
He said, the suspect had claimed to have handed the money to her husband who was believed to be in Johor.
It is understood that the maid had a history of heart disease and hypertension.
