High Court allows joint hearing of all accused in JAIP officer's murder case

The High Court today allowed an application by the prosecution for a joint hearing of "Tuhan Harun" sect leader Harun Mat and five others who are charged with murdering Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) assistant enforcement chief Ahmad Rafli Abdul Malek.

Judge Datuk Ab. Karim Ab. Rahman made the decision after Deputy Public Prosecutor Khamizah Salleh made the application.

He set October 27 to 31 to hear the case.

Harun, 48, together with his third wife, Azida Mohd Zol, 31; his driver, Shaizral Eddie Nizam Shaari, 38; and three other followers, Jefferi Safar, 37, Sumustapha Suradi, 39; Shamsinar Abdul Halim, 37, and another person still at large, were charged with criminal conspiracy leading to Ahmad Raffli's death on November 10 last year.

The offence was allegedly committed at the victim's house at Number 7, Lorong IM 2/29, Bandar Indera Mahkota here at about 1.50pm on November 10, 2013.

Sumustapha, Shamsinar and another person still at large were also charged with murdering Ahmad Raffli at the same place, time and date.

They face the death sentence if found guilty.

All the accused are represented by lawyer Hermes Media Putra Ibrahim.
