High Court orders Utusan to pay Lim Kit Siang RM 250,000 in damages

The Kuala Lumpur High Court in a ruling today ordered the Malay daily, Utusan Malaysia to pay RM250,000 in damages to DAP parliamentary leader, Lim Kit Siang after being found guilty of defaming the leader in an article published in the daily.
Judge Datuk Yeoh Wee Siam said, Kit Siang who is also Gelang Patah Member of Parliament was given a payment cost of RM25,000, after he successfully proved his case against the defendant on the balance of probability.
In his immediate reaction on his Twitter account, Kit Siang wrote: “Hurrah to Gobind Singh Deo for the great victory against politic of lies."

In September last year, Lim filed a suit against publisher Utusan Melayu (M) Berhad alleging him of manipulating the ballot count during the party's election in December 2012.
