The number of flood evacuees due to high tide at two relief centres in Selangor remain at 237 since last night until 8.30 this morning.
State Disaster Management Unit chief Ahmad Fairuz Mohd Yusof said 123 victims from 44 families were placed in the multipurpose hall in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar, while 114 victims from 24 families were staying at Palembang Hall in Rantau Panjang, Klang.
The embankments at Tebuk Mendeling and Sungai Air Tawar in Sabak Bernam which were repaired overnight had burst again however the surrounding areas were not affected.
"The situation is under control in the area following steps taken by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage to pump out flood water from the populated areas," he said in a statement.
The high tide which started yesterday is expected to continue for the next few days.
The costal areas of Selangor are expected to experience high tide which would last for five days with some areas will see the water level rise to as high as 5.6m.
Klang and Sabak Bernam districts are classified as red zone or high-risk areas to be hit by the floods, while three other districts namely Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat and Sepang as the yellow zone, where the floods risk labeled as moderate. --BERNAMA
