KUALA LUMPUR: The Higher Education Ministry has formed a special action committee to address social problems affecting graduates.
A statement issued by the ministry today stated that the committee is chaired by its deputy minister, Datuk Mansor Othman, with members comprising representatives from several ministries and non-governmental organisations, including student representatives from institutions of higher learning.
They included Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff, Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin and Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Ahmad Marzuk Shaary.
As for the student representatives, they included National Student Consultative Council president Muhammad Amir Asyraf Mohd Sabri and its vice-president Muhammad Nazmi Hakimi Mohd Eirman.
It is the ministry’s hope that the setting up of this committee and the cooperation among agencies can improve the personality of graduates, as well as their social problems, holistically.
