'Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu' adheres to Peaceful Assembly Act - Police
TAJUDDIN: The police will ensure sufficient personnel are mobilised at the assembly tomorrow.
The police have accepted the application of the Himpunan Rakyat Bersatu organisers to hold the assembly tomorrow as they have complied with all provisions under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said as the assembly had obtained due approval, the authorities would ensure public safety.
"Following that, the police will ensure sufficient personnel are mobilised at the assembly tomorrow," he said in a statement here today.
Tajuddin said the public need not fear about carrying out their daily chores in the federal capital.
"I have advised the people not to listen to rumours, especially those disseminated via social media," he said.
He said spreading such rumours could create unnecessary fear among the people and threaten public harmony and order, adding that the police would not tolerate any party carrying out such acts or provocation relating to the assembly.
Yesterday, Kuala Lumpur City Hall allowed the organisers to hold a peaceful assembly at Padang Merbok.
