Hishammuddin urges 1MDB to cooperate with investigating agencies
Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein urged 1MDB to cooperate with the authorities investigating the company's financial affairs.
Any weaknesses in the investigation in to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) need to be addressed including retrieving all the relevant documents, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
Urging the company to cooperate with the National Audit Department and assist in the investigation, Hishammuddin said 1MDB must give priority to the probe.
He was commenting on Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed statement that the company has not handed over several important documents.
“If the 1MDB did not cooperate as stated by Nur Jazlan, then it is something that must be rectified,” he said at a press conference today.
"1MDB must give priority to the probe,” he added.
Earlier today, Nur Jazlan said 1MDB has not yet handed over important documents needed in the investigations such as bank statements and agreements.
“1MDB needs to fully cooperate especially in terms of its documents so that this report can be finalised by year end," Nur Jazlan said.
The PAC begun its investigative proceedings into the 1MDB scandal on May 19.
