HKL ready to conduct post-mortem 37 bus victims
The Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) is ready to conduct post-mortems on the bodies of the 37 victims who were killed in the Genting Highlands bus tragedy today.
Health deputy director-general Datuk Dr S. Jeyaindran said five pathologists and eight medical officers from HKL's Forensics Unit were making preparations to undertake the task with the help of support staff.
"With this staff strength, four post-mortems can by done simultaneously at at any one time. Now we are just waiting the for instructions from the Police to carry out the post-mortems once all the bodies arrive," he told Bernama.
So far 20 bodies have been brought to HKL's mortuary, 10 more on the way while the remaining bodies are being extricated from the location of the disaster. Sixteen others were injured, some critically.
