It is supposed to be a joyous occasion.
Yet, national hockey player Baljit Singh is disappointed as his wedding preparations have been marred by the water disruption at his housing area in Taman Halaman, Ampang over the past two days.
Baljit is embarrassed over the ‘sticky’ situation as he is finding it difficult to host his extended family members as he is set to tie the knot on Saturday.
“I’ve contacted Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) four times but nothing has been done to date. I’ve also requested for water supply but their tankers are nowhere to be seen,” said Baljit.
“I just hope they (Syabas) will sort this out quickly."
Baljit, his elder brother Pritam, who plays for Terengganu club T-Team in the Super League (football), and younger brother Nirmal are forced to carry pails of water from nearby alternative sources.
Nirmal added the water disruption is certainly causing much anxiety to the family.
“We don’t even have water to mop the floor! This is supposed to be a fun and memorable week for us but now we have to think of ways to get water. This is an unnecessary headache.
“The same time should be spent on the final preparation for the wedding and not on this,” he said.
Besides Taman Halaman, the other affected areas include Taman Kesuma, Taman Dagang Permai, Taman Sri Intan and Taman Sri Watan.
Syabas corporate communications and public affairs assistant manager Priscilla Alfred confirmed there was a technical problem at the Taman Halaman pump house two days ago but it has been repaired and water supply will resume by 11pm tonight (Monday).
Many areas in Ampang have been hit by water woes since the start of the year and were forced to live without water for weeks due to ‘faulty pumps’.
