The honour given to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to deliver a speech at the Arab-Islamic-US Summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia recently, show the confidence of other countries in Malaysia.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the summit was attended by leaders of 55 countries including United States President Donald Trump.
"King Salman Abdulaziz , as the custodian of the two holy mosques, invited all Arab and Islamic countries including Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. The prime minister was given the honour of delivering a speech during the summit.
"This is because Malaysia which is seen as a model state and used a a benchmark in administration and leadership in economic development," he told reporters after a programme to enhance the performance of students in the UPSR and SPM examinations at SMK Gurun, here today.
Jamil Khir said a country would not be regarded as successful if the economy was in a slump, with no progress and development such as public transport infrastructure.
"Malaysia is not seen as a model state if the political climate and the security is unstable. What has been achieved did not happen by chance but due to the efforts of the government.
"Malaysians have to support the government to drive development in all aspects."
Jamil Khir urged Muslims in this country to take the spirit of Ramadan (fasting month) into the campaign for the 14th general election (GE14).
"Many people regard this coming Ramadan as the last before GE14 since the present government''s term will end in June next year ( 2018), ," he added.
