Hotels can take action against the ‘Kayangan’ (affluent) cluster who did damage during quarantine following COVID-19 at their premises.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said no one would be spared if they break the rules.
"The issue of the ‘Kayangan’ cluster has been raised again. In any case, they are subject to the rules and regulations of the hotel.
“If they violate hotel rules and the law, it is up to the hotel to take action against them.
"I heard that some items were damaged in a hotel room, including bedsheets, and so on,” he said in a media conference here on Saturday.
“Hotels certainly can take action against such people,” he said.
The ‘Kayangan’ cluster had earned such a negative perception after it was reported that some Malaysians returning from overseas had caused problems when they were made to go for compulsory quarantine.
Frontline personnel had complained of the cluster as abusive and making all kinds of demands while the government had imposed strict measures to stem the outbreak of COVID-19.
