A project to rebuild a house which was destroyed in a plane crash during the 2015 Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA'15) last month is expected to be completed in June.
HW Lima Sdn Bhd, which was involved in the organisation of LIMA'15, has received a proposal plan and quotation from a contractor to rebuild the house.
Its managing director, Ahmad Dzuhri Abd Wahab said the company had wanted to adopt the prefabricated method to replace the house but the owner, Zulkeflee Abu Mutalib turned it down.
"On the other hand, he requested that the house be re-built the normal way and we accede to his request," he said when met by reporters during a visit to the site where the house stood in Kampung Gelam, Kedawang here Tuesday.
Langkawi MP Datuk Nawawi Ahmad was also present during the visit to the site where a KT-1B aircraft belonging to Jupiter, the aerobatic team of the Indonesian Air Force, crashed during training on March 15.
The aircraft, which struck Zulkiflee's residence had collided in mid-air with another of the same type which crashed in a jungle near the Langkawi International Airport. Both pilots managed to parachute to safety.
Following the incident, the Jupiter team withdrew from the LIMA'15 air performance.
Ahmad Dzuhri said his company had given a commitment to help those involved in the incident and extended early aid.
"We are quite disappointed at negative comments hurled by certain quarters to the effect that we are trying to run away from our responsibilities when they don't know what we have done all this while.
"We have never neglected the welfare of those involved," he added.
