How did Lotus reduced the weight of the new Exige Sport 350?
Lotus’ award winning sports car, the Exige, gets a new incarnation. It is now known as the Exige Sport 350 is the next model in the range to join the new “Sport” naming designation, it will join the recently introduced Elise Sport and Elise Sport 220.
The new Exige is powered by a 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine that generates 345bhp and 400Nm at 4500rpm for that scintillating drive on the road while the suspensions have been retuned and wheel geometry contributes to un-matched vehicle dynamics and steering precision.
Couple that engine with the lower mass, the Exige is able to power from 0-100kph in just 3.9 seconds. The Exige Sport 350 is also capable of reaching a top speed of 274kph.
Weighing in at just 1125kg, the Exige is a product of Lotus’ Lightweight Laboratory. The Exige has shed 51kg compared to the previous Exige S model. This reduction in mass is the result of a thorough re-evaluation designed to deliver a pure driving experience.
Lotus has even released a video demonstrating some of the areas where weight saving have been made. Check it out below:
