Husband and wife among three dead in Bentong bus crash

The Transnasional bus which skidded early Saturday morning
BENTONG: Three passengers, including a husband and wife were killed when the bus they were travelling in skidded before hitting an electric pole and overturned at KM11, Jalan Bentong-Raub near Bilut area at 12.30am on Saturday.
Bentong OCPD Supt Mohamad Nor Mansor said initial investigation found that the double-decker bus owned by Transnasional with 68 passengers on-board travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu, lost control at the corner of the area before breaking several electric poles on the right and left side of the road and eventually overturning.
"Before the bus lost control, the bus driver was believed to have overtaken few vehicles and it is a downhill area. It was dark and the road surface was dry when the incident took place," he said via an SMS to Astro AWANI.
The victim who died were identified as Suhaisam Che Abdulla, 33, his wife Zarifah Alias, 26, and a Somalian citizen, Abdalla Mohamed Mohamud, 31.
10 others were injured, including the bus driver Affendi Wan Khairul Mustafa, 35, who suffered a broken right leg. The othere were Ruwaidi Jusuh, 35, Nur Sazren Fazhera Mohd Shanif, 20, Norzamera Abd Manaf, 24, Low Wan Yi, 23, Siti Nabila Mohd Nasir, 23, Tuan Rosnani Tuan Mohd Din, 22, Wan Muhamad Husin Abdullah, 54, Faizah Abdullah, 89, and a Thai, known as Mamalutfee.
These passengers were sent to the Bentong and Temerloh Hospital for treatment.
The other 55 passengers were given outpatient treatment at the Bentong Hospital while the bodies of the victims sent to the same hospital for post-mortem.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
