Husband killed, wife seriously injured in head-on collision at Jalan Papar-Beaufort

A man was killed while his wife was seriously injured after the Viva car they were travelling in collided with a pick-up truck at Km28, Jalan Papar-Beaufort, Saturday afternoon.
Chong Tseng Kong, 59, died at the scene while his wife Chong Mui Ken, 56, suffered a broken right rib in the 12.50pm incident.
Papar district police chief DSP George Abd Rahman when contacted said the victim and his wife were on their way to Beaufort from Kota Kinabalu.
A pick-up truck approaching from the opposite direction had lost control after hitting the rear of a MyVi car and collided head on with the victim's car, he said.
He said the pick-up driver only suffered minor injuries while the MyVi car driver escaped unhurt.
The victim's wife was being treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, he added.
