The police have enough evidence to investigate former Finance Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Husni Hanadzlah for sedition for his statement made at the Parliament on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said.
He said apart from being investigated under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) 1972, Ahmad Husni can also be probed for sedition as the investigation on him over the issue has not been completed yet.
"The former minister's action by making the claims of misconduct by the Prime Minister is to incite others that the Prime Minister had done wrong although the investigations have not been concluded," Khalid said.
He said the same also applies to two other former Cabinet ministers, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
"So, the police have enough reasons to investigate them," he said.
During the tabling of the 2017 Budget recently, Ahmad Husni had asked the government to state the reason for establishing 1MDB, and if any action had been taken against the company for channeling its funds to the wrong places.
