Hyundai’s Sonata celebrates three decades

Hyundai brings us back through time with the history of their ever-popular Sonata. By Jerrica Leong

It’s the Sonata’s 30th birthday! And Hyundai wants to remind us all about the Sonata’s history with the histogram they have drawn up. Would you believe it, the Sonata has sold over 7.3million units throughout the 30 years it has been in production. Things started off in 1985 with a rear wheel drive first generation Sonata in South Korea before it was introduced to the US Market in 1988 and the world.

Hyundai is proud to say that they have crafted the Sonata to the ever-changing needs of their customers that they have even expanded their line-up to include an all-new Plug-in Hybrid variant which they debuted during the 2015 Seoul Motorshow.
