"Thank you, Prime Minister, I believe the government will do its best to bring back my daughter," said Maznah Adnan, the mother of one of the Malaysians in Pyongyang, Korea North.
Maznah, 63, said as a mother, nothing as comforting as knowing that her daughter, Iza Karmila Ramli, 33, and her family in Pyongyang are safe after hearing the conversation between Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and her son-in-law, Mohd Nor Azrin Md Zain, on Thursday.
She described the phone call as a motivation for her to continue praying apart from strongly believing that the Prime Minister would solve the conflict without compromising the safety of Malaysians in the country.
"I believe that our Prime Minister is a credible leader who is able to make good negotiations with North Korea in an effort to resolve this problem.
"I thank the Prime Minister and appeal to the government to endeavour to bring back my daughter's family immediately," she said when met by Bernama at her residence here.
Iza Karmila, an Administrative and Diplomatic Officer took leave to join her husband Mohd Nor Azrin, the Counsellor at the Malaysian Embassy in Pyongyang two years ago, are still in North Korea with their three children after they were not allowed to leave the country since March 7.
Iza Karmila and Mohd Nor Azrin, are in Pyongyang with their children Annur Zulaikha, Aynur Zhafirah and Ayscha Zinnirah.
Describing her feelings, Maznah hoped her daughter and family would stay strong in facing the ordeal.
"Alhamdulillah, in the conversation, Mohd Nor Azrin and family are safe and healthy and I hope their morale remains high.
"I have yet to receive a call from Iza Karmila after our last phone call on Tuesday. Regardless, I will continue praying for her and family as well as for other Malaysians in North Korea," she said.
