Barisan Nasional strategic communications director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said he is relieved that the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) took action against Lim Guan Eng today.
In a press statement, the newly-appointed Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of the EPU said the course of justice must be a swift one.
"I raised the concern over the sale and purchase of YAB Lim Guan Eng’s bungalow at Jalan Pinhorn in March 2016, because I believed there are wrongdoings within the transaction and the people of Penang deserve nothing but the truth," he said.
"Clearly, DAP's slogan of being the most clean political party in Malaysia does not hold water, post Lim Guan Eng's arrest by MACC today. Transparency and accountability must be practiced, not preached," he added.
He said he hoped that the MACC will carry out their duty without fear and favour.
"And eventually this will bring us the truth and justice," he said.
The MACC today arrested Lim at his office in Komtar while he was chairing a state exco meeting.
The purchase of the bungalow for RM2.8 million became a controversy after Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya disclosed in the Dewan Rakyat that the price was below the market value.
It was also claimed that the purchase was connected to the state government's sale of the land in Taman Manggis that had been reserved for a housing project for the poor.
The MACC on May 22, had raided Lim's residence in Jalan Pinhorn, Georgetown.
