The chairman of the UMNO Advisory Board, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, stressed that his call for the party leaders to resign from the government was a view from the grassroots.
He explained that the UMNO grassroots saw that the ministers appointed from the party were not accorded respect in the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
"What is the point of sitting there. That is the view of the people below that I convey and there are even people who do not have positions in the party, have high positions.
"Our people who hold the position of Vice President in the party do not even have a position (in the Cabinet), it seems that way," he said as reported by BH Online.
Tengku Razaleigh also stressed that he will continue to provide views and advice to UMNO as long as he holds the position of chairman of the party's advisory board.
The Gua Musang MP said he would only stop giving advice if it was no longer needed.
"I have to answer because I was appointed as an advisor, unless you do not want me to be an advisor anymore, I can stop advising.
"I do not criticise, I repeat I do not criticise anyone. I do not interfere in the affairs of other parties, (instead) I only give views of UMNO members who met me," he added.
He said this to reporters after a meeting with the head and representative of the settlers of the KESEDAR Land Development Plan (RKT) to discuss the demand of oil palm plantations after replanting at Bukit Chekati in Gua Musang, on Tuesday.
Last Friday, Tengku Razaleigh made a statement asking UMNO leaders in the PN government Cabinet to immediately resign from their respective positions.
