MUHYIDDIN: Believed the rumours of him stepping down surfaced because of his good relations with Najib.
Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today refuted rumours of him stepping down as Deputy Prime Minister.
He said he would continue to serve the premier for as long as he was given the trust by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
"I'm still here, alive and kicking. The Cabinet reshuffle is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. There is a possibility it will happen, because he (Najib) has mentioned about bringing in a few political leaders from MCA and Gerakan.
"However, until today, there has been nothing that crops up which involves my position," he told reporters after closing the 14th Science Council of Asia International Conference here.
On Wednesday, the social media and bloggers had posted reports on the possibility of Muhyiddin stepping down to focus on efforts to strengthen UMNO.
This followed speculation of a Cabinet reshuffle by the PM to bring in leaders from MCA and Gerakan into the lineup.
Muhyiddin, who is also UMNO deputy president, said he believed the rumours of him stepping down surfaced because of his good relations with the premier.
"Perhaps, it is to create instability or factions in the party or government so that they can take advantage of the situation."
