A family in Penang lost four of its family members in a blast which hit outside a religious shrine in Bangkok on Monday.
Neoh Hock Guan who survived the blast espressed his grief over the demise of his wife Lim Su Gaik, 49; son Neoh Jai Jun, 20; son-in-law Lim Tze Siang, 33; and four-year-old grand-daughter Lee Jing Xuan. Another of his relative Lim Su Xee remains missing.
“I lost everything,” said Neoh to the media.
Recalling the frightful moments, Neoh said his family was carrying out a religious ceremony when the blast occurred.
"This incident is the first time, the situation was very chaotic. I was very surprised, to see everyone was gone.
"At that time I was praying and burning joss sticks. I felt a strong hit as if I was pushed. I felt like everything was lost when I got up. I tried to find my family members but they were gone,” said Neoh.
After the incident, Neoh managed to reunite with his daughter Neoh Yee Ling.
“After that I found my son-in-law (Tze Siang). I called but no answer. After that I found my wife. She was alive at that time however she was very weak. Later I saw my son (Neoh Jai Jun). He had however died.
“I did not know anything. I lost everything. I only shouted for help,” said Neoh.
Neoh who was injured in the legs and behind his shoulders was met at his residence in Taman Dedap, here Wednesday evening after arriving from Bangkok along with Yee Ling, who also survived the blast.
Neoh said that the funeral ceremony for his wife and son will be held on Sunday.
It is understood that Neoh and his family members were vacationing in Bangkok since Saturday and was scheduled to return to Malaysia on Tuesday.
The blast in Bangkok on Monday killed at least 20 people, mostly foreigners, and injured over 120 people.
