Idris Jala among the top 50 most influential figure in the world.
The CEO of Pemandu, Datuk Seri Idris Jala was named by Bloomberg Markets magazine as one of the 50 most influential figure in the market.
He was listed among the 10 most influential policy makers in the world alongside south New York prosecutor, Preet Bharara, who was responsible for handling multiple high profile stock market embezzlement cases in Wall Street.
Idris was placed together with Europe’s Central Bank President, Mario Dragi; Reserve Bank of India's Governor, Raghuram Rajan; Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, Xiao Gang along with United States’ Federal Reserve Chairman, Janet Yellen.
“We chose these individuals based on what they are currently doing and not based on their previous performance,” said Bloomberg Markets.
The magazine painted Idris as a figure who “eases the investment and businesses in Malaysia” through economic policy that has been shaped to help the nation compete with neighbouring countries that are developing faster.
The magazine chose 10 figures according to five different categories namely, finance manager, thinker, corporate broker, banker and policy maker.
In his reaction through Twitter, Idris said he extends his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, cabinet members and all civil servants.
