JERTIH: UMNO Member of Parliament for Besut Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh today pledged his support for Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Idris, who is Felda chairman, said in a time when the people are facing difficult times due to COVID-19 pandemic, no politicians should be playing the game of politics, but instead should help the people, increase the vaccination rate and revive the economy.
"In the best interest of the people and to avoid politicking, I decided to continue supporting the current government under Muhyiddin's leadership.
"We are all in the government now. UMNO leaders have been given the recognition as deputy prime minister, senior minister and ministers in the government. The proven capabilities of UMNO leaders had made UMNO members felt so grateful as they also received all the assistance provided by the government," he said in a statement sent through WhatsApp today.
Idris said Muhyiddin had helped Felda in so many ways, starting with the issuing of Sukuk bonds worth RM9.9 billion and the write-off of settlers' loans totalling RM8.3 billion.
Apart from that, Idris also was in the opinion that UMNO will have a better future if it stood with the current government.
