KUALA LUMPUR:The Opposition did not reject the 2021 Budget because most of their requests to improve the budget were agreed by the Minister of Finance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Opposition Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said if the budget, seen to be of great help to the people, is rejected, how will they explain the situation to the people.
He said people would be furious if the Opposition chose to reject the Budget because allocations for them will not be approved.
“I understand, Mat Sabu (Mohamad Sabu) said our mandate is that we must reject. Guan Eng also said the same thing but I said, how do we explain this to the community?
“We face not only urban communities, what about the rural and Sabah communities who will receive additional allocations... salaries of civil servants, allowances, subsidies for fishermen and health workers.
“How do we explain? The rakyat gets (these allocations) - why did you refuse?, ”he said in a video interview with TheVibes.com.
Anwar added that based on that consideration, he decided not to participate in the bloc voting in the Dewan Rakyat recently.
