IGP confirms existence of deferral order on transfer of senior officers
Abdul Hamid said he has the power to regulate the PDRM and the transfer of senior officers should be implemented by him as the IGP as the law states that he has the power and it is his responsibility.
KLANG: KLANG: Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador has confirmed that there has been an order to postpone the transfer of senior officers as spread on social media since yesterday.
The Inspector-General of Police said the directive was issued by the Home Minister at the last minute involving the transfer of police chiefs.
The latest list of transfers issued by Bukit Aman involved 71 senior officers, including the Kuala Lumpur Police Chief, Selangor Police Chief and Petaling Jaya District Police Chief.
Following that, Abdul Hamid said he would meet with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in the near future to seek and to provide an explanation on the matter.
As the IGP, he said, he has the power to regulate the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM).
“(The directive) should be implemented by me as the Inspector-General of Police and the law states that I (have the power) to regulate the PDRM as it is my responsibility.
“I have already issued an order for the transfer of the officers for the benefit of all.
"There is nothing extraordinary but at the last minute, (while) I was on vacation, suddenly I got instructions stating it should be postponed.
"So, I will meet with him (Hamzah) and will give an explanation as to why it needs to proceed," he said in a press conference after the launch ceremony of the Selangor Contingent Amanita Adopted Park here today.
Earlier, there were allegations on Facebook that there was political interference in the 'command' and regulation of the PDRM.
In the statement, the IGP had ordered the transfers ofpolice chiefs to be postponed on the instructions of the minister.
Earlier, PDRM had announced a reshuffle involving the transfer of senior officers in the state contingent and the Bukit Aman police headquarters effective April 12.
