IGP: Police investigating anti-GST assembly

The police have begun investigations into Thursday's assembly which protested against the Goods and Services Tax here, for allegedly violating several conditions of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the investigations were into several issues, including failure to give ample notice before holding the assembly and bringing smoke bombs, flares and sharp weapons such as knives, to the gathering.
He was speaking at a media conference after a shooting event with the media at the General Operations Force Central Brigade Camp shooting range in Cheras here Saturday.
He said the police were still in the midst of identifying individuals who were involved in a scuffle with media representatives on duty at the assembly.
In the incident, three photographers were attacked by a group of masked protesters who were dressed in black.
Two of the photographers were beaten and kicked while the other was struck by a piece of wood hurled at him.
