The Alumni Department and Global Networking Division of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) aim at raising RM500,000 in conjunction with the IIUM Alumni 'Home Coming' charity dinner, tonight.
IIUM Rector Prof Datuk Seri Dr Zaleha Kamarudin said the fund would be channeled to Al-Safa Fund (Alumni Scholarship and Financial Assistance) to help the underprivileged students of IIUM throughout their studies.
"This is one of the alumni's initiative to contribute back to the university," she said at the IIUM Alumni 'Home Coming' charity dinner, here last night.
Meanwhile, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, who is one of the IIUM alumni, donated RM50,000 to the Al-Safa Fund.
"I call on all IIUM alumni who have succeeded in their respective fields to make some donations so that these young students will be able to follow the foot steps of the successful alumni," he said.
At the event that was attended by 700 IIUM alumni, 40 students received donation from the Al-Safa Fund.
