Illegal cut-and-join lorry operator gets death for murder

An illegal cut-and-join lorry operator was sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court here after he was found guilty of murdering a security company manager, four years ago.

Judicial commissioner S.M. Komathy Suppiah imposed the sentence on Lee Meng Boon after the defence failed to raise reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case.

Lee, 39 was charged with murdering Jasrafveendeerjeet Singh, 25, in front of the Sun Heng food outlet at No 350, Lebuh 5, Kampung Simee at 10.15pm on July 28, 2013.

He was also found guilty on two charges of attempted murder of Sarbjit Singh a/l Harder Singh, 32, and Kok Loo Kong, 59, at the same time and place.

Earlier, Komathy said she accepted the evidence of witnesses that Lee was the person who fired the shots and the court found him guilty on all three charges.

Prosecution was conducted by deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong Mohd Jeffrey Ong while the accused was represented by Sudesh Singh a/l Salinder Singh.
